Now I am a Believer

This song is totally running through my mind right now. I changed the lyrics ever so slightly.

Now I am a Believer
By The Monkees

I thought love was only true in fairy tales
Meant for someone else but not for me.
Love was out to get me
That's the way it seemed.
Disappointment haunted all my dreams.

Then I saw their faces, now I'm a believer
Not a trace of doubt in my mind.
I'm in love, I'm a believer!
I couldn't leave them if I tried.

I thought love was more or less a given thing,
Seems the more I gave the less I got.
What's the use in tryin'?
All you get is pain.
When I needed sunshine I got rain.

Then I saw their faces, now I'm a believer
Not a trace of doubt in my mind.
I'm in love, I'm a believer!
I couldn't leave them if I tried

Comments

I listened to this song a lot when we were waiting on our second adoption, which was fraught with uncertainty. That was 3 years ago and now I sing it to both of my daughters, still with tears in my eyes, and they think I'm very old and very silly.

This line from "What a Wonderful World" also made me cry while waiting:
"I hear babies cry
And I watch them grow
They'll learn much more
Then we'll ever know
And I think to myself
What a wonderful world"

I love the power of music.

Congratulations!
